Peaceful Transnistria expects aggression from the West
from StopFake
Until recently, a state not recognized with its capital in Tiraspol was considered a place from which an attack on the Odessa region could be launched. The second phase of the Russian aggression after February 24 made the world aware that Russian forces did not pose a threat to Ukraine. Meanwhile, in the Transnistrian narrative, this creation may be the target of an attack by its neighbors.
The founding myth of the para-state was the 1992 "defensive war" with the authorities in Chisinau, and especially the fierce fighting in Dubosary and Bendery. The Soviet (and then Russian) 14th Army commanded by General Aleksander Lebiedz ultimately decided to settle the conflict. The "defensive war" itself in propaganda became a mini "patriotic war" with all the baggage of historical associations of the next chapter in the history of the "fight against fascism".
Despite the regulation of relations with the authorities in Chisinau in many respects, the Moldovan threat is the central place of Transnistria's rhetoric, and at the same time Russia is the "guarantor of peace": - Moldova has not been lying to the people of Transnistria until today and at the same time creates obstacles to peaceful life. Behind this impunity is the threat of a new, bloody aggression, of bloodshed. Only thanks to Russia is peace preserved , said Leonid Manakov, the main representative of Transnistria in Russia in 2021.
Transnistria is not a source of threat to Moldova and Ukraine - this is confirmed by the opinion of the inhabitants of the enclave published in the media by street polls and interviews with artists who emphasize that the people of Transnistria are a peaceful people and absolutely cannot be an aggressor. Meanwhile, the policy of neighbors may have a blade aimed at Tiraspol, such as Moldova's agreement with Frontex, which helps to control the influx of war refugees from Ukraine. The author of Wiadomości Transnistria [Novosti Prydnistrowia] suggests that the appearance of non-Moldovan border officers may create a precedent and open a "gate" for the influx of uniformed people to the border with Transnistria, perhaps even from Romania itself. The last country belongs to the "trio of evil" in the local propaganda. The plots against Transnistria are usually done by the United States / NATO, Brussels and Romania. The last country, Germany's ally during World War II, fits perfectly into the narrative of the "fight against fascism". In one breath, the texts recall the German and Romanian occupiers from the times of the "great patriotic war".
Andrei Safanov, a political scientist and deputy of the so-called Supreme Council of the Republic of Transnistria of Moldova, wrote in the Transnistrian News that the insistence of the authorities in Chisinau for the Russian army to leave Transnistria was the implementation of NATO's intentions for the Moldovan army, equipped with Western weapons, to occupy the para-state.
At a time when the government in Kiev was oriented towards Moscow or stuck in the position of "Ukrainian twine", Transnistria had good relations with Ukraine. It finally ended in 2014.
Until May 25, according to the decree signed by the president, the terrorist alert will be red. The series of terrorist acts launched at the end of April, such as the attack on the Ministry of Public Security or the collapse of television towers, heated the atmosphere, and Ukraine became the enemy No. 1. An expert on the TV channel First Transnistrian [Pervy Pridnestrovsky] had no doubts that the attackers were trained in terrorist activities, and the RPG itself (hand-held anti-tank grenade launchers) were unavailable in Transnistria. The actual blowing up of the base of the antennas was done by three groups that had illegally arrived from Ukraine. The radio and television communication network was to be attacked again - on May 3, the drone flew from Ukraine to complete the work in the town of Majak [Maiac - Romanian]. He got tangled in the cables and the attack was unsuccessful. Another drone attack in Woronkowo was also unsuccessful. Of course, it also came from Ukraine. The town of Kołbasna [Cobasna - Romanian], where the post-Soviet arsenal of weapons is located, was to be fired from the territory of Ukraine.
The series of "terrorist acts" seem to be provocations of Transnistria itself (read: Russian services). This is also the position of the Ukrainian side. What was the point of an attack on the ministry of security? The viewer, accustomed to the crude Soviet narrative, probably does not ask himself such questions ...
According to commentators, many aspects of Chiinau's policy have their source in prompts or even orders from the West. Sometimes the conclusions are almost comical. Andrei Safanov does not rule out that in Moldova, Ghegiev's ribbons were banned on the orders of the West, so that "countries hostile to Russia form a tight front." Moldova joined this front with renewed strength after the election of President Mai Sandu. Safanov also does not exclude the personal sympathy of the pro-Western president, who said that Marshal Iona Antonescu, who was at the head of Romania during World War II, can be said to be both good and bad. The conclusion is obvious: the Moldovan president, sympathetic to fascist Romania, hates Georgiev's ribbons. And this symbol in the post-Soviet space is sacred.
The president of the so-called Moldavian Republic of Transnistria, Vadim Krasnosielski said on May 22, during the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the fight against Moldovans in Dubosary, for the people of Transnistria will certainly defend independence, should the need arise. He added "Planning an incursion into Transnistria is dangerous." The peace-loving people of Transnistria fearfully look to their borders and wonder, 'Will they come in? They won't come in? ”.
